What’s a Weekly Win Jar?
Do you ever feel that your work doesn’t matter? Do you fail to realize the impact you are making in the world?
One ritual I started was the Weekly Win jar. At the end of each week during the year, I wrote my most important “win” or accomplishment of the week on a Post-It note and put it in the jar.
Yes, some weeks it was hard to find that “win”. However, the exercise served as a reminder that each week that passes during the year brings an opportunity to serve, grow, and improve. And it helped me remember that it’s the small wins that occur consistently over time that make a big impact. Too often, it’s those small wins that are forgotten over time.
As I reflected at the end of this year, I considered:
- What was it that I wanted to accomplish?
- Where did I want to go?
- What did I want to experience?
- Who could I help?
… And, how could I make a difference?
As I emptied the Weekly Win jar, pulled out the Post-its, and recounted each activity or action that took place throughout the year, I realized I did accomplish much of what I aspired to do at the beginning of the year.
I’ll be repeating this activity this year, as I believe it’s the small wins which happen consistently over time, that in the long run add up to a BIG outcome or result.
Will you be keeping track of your “wins” this year?
