Speakers – Did You Know Conference & Tradeshow Attendee Levels are Predicted to Rise in 2018?
An increase in attendees equals an increase in opportunities for speakers. According to one industry report, “…conference and tradeshow attendee levels are anticipated to increase by 1.8 percent in 2018.” That means that there is no better time to polish an idea or content that can serve a hungry audience. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Meeting planners are looking for presentations that are interactive and engaging. I have been asked this question on numerous occasions when I have had conversations with meeting planners, “How do you plan to engage our audience?” Be sure you have incorporated interactivity in your presentations.
2. Corporations and associations are looking for speakers who can address these types of issues: increase productivity, increase profits and increase performance, communication and employee retention. Can you relate your topic to any of these? This may mean reframing your topic to fit the needs of the corporation or association that hires you.
3. Corporation and associations do not hire speakers. They hire solutions to the problems they are facing (see #2). Know your audience and the pain points of the person who is hiring you to speak.
4. Lastly, don’t call yourself a “motivational” speaker. The word “motivational” connotes fluff, and meeting planners and audiences want real substance, tactics and techniques that can be used when they return home from the event they have attended.
Hopefully these tips can help you land a stage that puts you in front of an audience who needs to hear your message (and strategies and tactics on how they can improve)!
