There are ways to leverage AI tools to help us be more effective with our written and verbal communication.
With the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence (AI), we can learn to leverage this digital tool in several ways to enhance our work, improve our presentations, and engage our audiences more effectively.
Here are ways where AI can increase our productivity as speakers.
4 Ways to Leverage AI as Speakers:
1. Content Creation and Curation
AI-powered writing tools such as Grammarly, Jasper, Copy.ai, and ChatGPT can be useful for idea generation, speech outlines, and even draft speeches. AI can also be used to create customized content for a specific audience as well as gather and analyze data.
One caution in this area, however, is that AI may not be accurate, so be sure to follow up with AI’s responses to your prompts to ensure its responses to your prompts are relevant and accurate.
I recently asked ChatGPT to write a bio for me for an upcoming speaking event. It was good, however, it was not totally accurate as it stated that I had earned my CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) designation, which I have not achieved, yet.
Always double-check what AI has written.
2. Presentation Design
There are several AI tools available such as Canva and Beautiful.ai which can suggest design elements and layouts for slides that can visually enhance a presentation.
AI tools can create compelling data visualizations that can improve your presentation because they can simplify complex information to be more understandable. Tools such as DALL-E can create custom images, and Pictory can create videos.
3. Practice and Performance
Speech coaching platforms such as Yoodli or Orai use AI to provide real-time feedback when practicing one’s delivery for a presentation. These platforms provide information on the rate of speech, tone, volume, use of filler words, and other aspects of delivery.
(Full disclosure: I use Yoodli with my clients. They say they enjoy using it, and it has helped to improve their delivery.)
4. During the Presentation
If you are presenting to an international audience, tools like Google Translate or Microsoft Translator can provide real-time translations and subtitles. This can increase audience engagement when English is a second language for audience members.
The Power of AI
Overall, AI is enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and reach of speakers by providing tools to improve efficiency, proficiency, and performance, and to more effectively connect with their audiences.
