What Can You Do To Reset for 2021
Looking back on 2020, this was a year in which many of us had to pause, pivot, and prepare to change the way we previously ran our businesses/practices. During this downtime in these last few weeks before the New Year arrives, it may be a good time to reset for success in 2021.
Reframe. Those who have been the most successful in our “now normal” either embraced or adopted a “growth mindset”. According to Carol Dweck who is a professor of Psychology at Stanford University and originator of the term says, “Individuals who believe their talents can be developed (through hard work, good strategies, and input from others) have a growth mindset. They tend to achieve more than those with a more fixed mindset (those who believe their talents are innate gifts).” How is your mindset serving you? Are you willing to grow? Or are you stuck in what worked before the pandemic hit? A learning mindset is going to be essential for success going forward.
Repurpose. This is a good time to clean up the office and clean up your files. In the process of cleaning up, do you have old resources that can be turned into new material? Perhaps an older slide deck can be repurposed and uploaded to Slideshare to share your message with a broader audience? Or, perhaps you can repurpose your well-designed slides to create marketing messages or social media memes. Let your creative juices start flowing!
Revenue. Are there new ways to monetize that presentation you delivered several months ago? Can you create an ebook, an online course, training, or a more focused workshop with your knowledge that can get you started in the New Year?
Rest. Many of us have experienced considerable stress related to the coronavirus and are also reporting higher levels of general stress than in recent years, according to a recent report published by the American Psychological Association. Carving out some time for self-care during this holiday time can be helpful in renewing our energy.
As our work-from-home situation continues at least through the first part of 2021, I’m optimistic that we will be able to continue to grow and serve our audiences in the upcoming year.
What have you learned in 2020 that will serve you well in the upcoming year?
I wish you and yours a safe and joyful holiday season!
