Do Not Let Your Negative Self Talk Stop You from Succeeding

When we are on track to succeeding in life and in business, we can be our own worst enemies. Self Talk is the dialogue that we use to speak with ourselves. This may sound a bit out there but think about it this way: the angels on your shoulders, the good and the bad or even your Jiminy Cricket. Depending on whether you listen to the negative talk that comes from your brain is up to you.

This being said, we often fall into these pitfalls because society as a whole has made us so paranoid of what we can and cannot. The key is to know what is logical, fact based thought and what is just negative self talk. Here are a few of the big negative self talk pitfalls that you need to watch out for.

I Do Not Have Enough Knowledge to Succeed

This is really simple to shut down, just go get the knowledge. Further schooling and learning are everywhere. Even if you do not have the money or the means to go back to school, the internet is full of free courses that are presented by leading universities. These courses range over many different topics and through many disciplines.

Even if you have no internet access at home it is available at your local libraries as well as book (which are far underused) covering many different topics as well. The point is that learning is a life long pursuit and only can truly stop you from growing in knowledge.

I Will Never Succeed Because of How I Was Raised

Everyone has issues with how they were raised. Maybe you were never good enough your parents, or maybe you were raised in a poverty stricken area with little hope of advancement. No matter what background you come from you can advance and better yourself.

Sometimes it takes changing bad habits and moving on with your life from situations that are holding you back. It is not easy but if you really want to succeed you can. The key is to surround yourself with new influences and people that can help you move past what your upbringing says you are supposed to do and be.

I Am Too Afraid of Failure to Try to Succeed

Fear of failure is common, but it is up to you over come it. This does not mean you are alone. Get help. Seek out other individuals actively pursuing success and collaborate with them. This can be a networking group, a business coach or even an online group. The point is to help one another to grow to the point that success and failure are not so scary because you know that you have support system no matter what.

Another good piece of advice is stay connected with these individuals, because you can not imagine how much you can learn and receive from a great group of business professionals trying to grow and evolve.

To Sum it Up

Self talk can either help or hinder you. Your job is to start telling the difference between the two. When negative self talk and doubts do occur, the best thing to do is to stop it in its track. Take a moment and logically think the thought out. Is it reasonable; is it true, can it change? Depending on your answer, change the situation and keep reminding yourself that you can do this! It will take time and practice but if you want to succeed you can.
